چکیده

In this paper, we apply the meshfree radial basis function (RBF) interpolation to numerically approximate zero-coupon bond prices and survival probabilities in order to price credit default swap (CDS) contracts. We assume that the interest rate follows a Cox-Ingersoll-Ross process while the default intensity is described by the Exponential-Vasicek model. Several numerical experiments are conducted to evaluate the approximations by the RBF interpolation for oneand two-factor models. The results are compared with those estimated by the finite difference method (FDM). We find that the RBF interpolation achieves more accurate and computationally efficient results than the FDM. Our results also suggest that the correlation between factors does not have a significant impact on CDS spreads.

Credit Default Swap Valuation with Counterparty Risk ∗

Using the reduced form framework with inter-dependent default correlation, we perform valuation of credit default swap with counterparty risk. The inter-dependent default risk structure between the protection buyer, protection seller and the reference entity in a credit default swap are characterized by their correlated default intensities, where the default intensity of one party increases whe...

Valuation of a Default Swap Option___________.PDF

This paper makes an analysis on a default swap option that an investment bank in Japan produced on the credit-risk of a convertible bond issued by a third company C. In this default swap option, a protection buyer A against a default of C owns the right of starting an interest swap between the buyer and a protection seller B when a credit event happens. When B starts the swap after a default, t...

Anchoring Credit Default Swap Spreads to Firm Fundamentals∗

This paper examines the capability of firm fundamentals in explaining the cross-sectional variation of credit default swap spreads. We start with the Merton (1974) model, which combines two major credit risk determinants into a distance-to-default measure. We convert the distance-to-default measure into a raw CDS valuation based on a constant hazard rate assumption and then map the raw CDS valu...

An Application of Genetic Network Programming Model for Pricing of Basket Default Swaps (BDS)

The credit derivatives market has experienced remarkable growth over the past decade. As such, there is a growing interest in tools for pricing of the most prominent credit derivative, the credit default swap (CDS). In this paper, we propose a heuristic algorithm for pricing of basket default swaps (BDS). For this purpose, genetic network programming (GNP), which is one of the recent evolutiona...

Credit Swap Valuation

This review of the pricing of credit swaps, a form of derivative security that can be viewed as default insurance on loans or bonds, begins with a description of the credit swap contract, turns to pricing by reference to spreads over the risk-free rate of par floating-rate bonds of the same quality, and then considers model-based pricing. The role of asset swap spreads as a reference for pricin...
